What about the Houses of Parliament? You could be in some sort of lift right near Big Ben. If you cut the wrong wire, you stay there while it strikes. If you cut the right one, you are lowered/transported to a safer (less loud) distance. There's a timer/countdown built in to this one automatically... Have only just thought of this so there will be massive holes.
